What volunteer events are available?

All events are remote and last an hour over zoom or asynchrously. Choose to mentor individually or with your ERG. 

 
  • Hacking Together

    Get on a mob zoom and help fellows navigate tasks and debugging for full-stack functions or architecture. Engineers, Architects, and Security folks encouraged.

  • Career Advice

    Help fellows build their brand. Look over blogs, LinkedIns, resumes, or mock interviews. Talent Aquisition, DevRel, and Marketing folks encouraged.

Technical Mentor

Walk through prompt engineering such as to create better wikis, inline comments, and readMes for better collaboration

⚙️Unit Tests for APIs | October 30th 12-1 pm pt
Technical Mentor

Create tests for common error codes for Integrations: Twilio, Auth0,  and Stripe. Have unit tests for edge cases in functions.

⚙️Building automations with GitHub Actions| Nov 6th 12-1 pm pt

Debug existing YAML files for the repo's current workflows or come up with your own for GitOps and community collaboration.

Career Mentor

Give feedback on how a fellow could use STAR method in their resume. You'll have a guiding checklist as you leave comments on the document.

⚙️ HashiCorp SecretVault| Nov 13th 12-1 pm pt
Interviewer + Interviewee will receive a unique Google Meet invitation
Pair program with students to help them learn the basics of secret management across CI/CD pipelines using HashiCorp SecretVault

Career Mentor

You'll be matched with a fellow to read their blog and leave 2-3 comments on the content. Look for solution details and context setting in their voice.

⚙️ Deploying to AWS with ECR and ECS | Dec 12th 12-1 pm pt
Technical Mentor

Pair program with students to help them learn the basics of using GitHub Actions for CI/CD pipelines to AWS ECR and use ECS to do container scanning.
